Financial Help for 16-18 Years

We may be able to help you with the cost of fees, equipment, child care or travel and residential costs. You don't have to be on benefits to get financial help.

We have made applying as simple as possible, but it will involve filling in forms, providing evidence and telling us about your financial situation. We will then make an assessment based on your personal circumstances.

The Chichester College Learning Support Grant for 16-18

The Chichester College Learning Support Grant is the name we have given to bursaries for 16 to 18 year olds.  This grant, funded by the Education Funding Agency and administered by the college, is the replacement for EMA for new students.

This grant can provide you with:

  • access to free or subsidised travel (up to £638 per year)
  • free or subsidised equipment, books or resources
  • free or subsidised childcare
  • free UCAS admin fees
  • contribution towards enrichment activities linked to your course

If you are aged 16 to 18 and are currently in care or just leaving care or you receive income support or employment and support allowance and Disability Living Allowance, you may be eligible for the Chichester College Learning Bursary of £1200 for the year.

How do I apply for the Chichester College Learning Support Grant?

Application forms and guidance are available from the Student Finance team in the Student Centre at Chichester and the student tutor office at Brinsbury. Come in to see us or telephone 01243 786321 and ask to speak to an advisor. If you are already a student at Chichester College and coming back for another year, you can download an application form from Chi Online.

If you think you may be eligible for financial support please apply as soon as possible, as funds are limited. If your application is successful, further information will be sent to you about payment dates and claiming your award after enrolment.

No decisions relating to financial support will be communicated until after the 1st August of the year that you are applying for and if you are successful, no payments will be made until your enrolment is completed.
