This course aims to demonstrate how to repair and restore antique and modern furniture to a high ethical standard. It is essential to buy and bring your own pair of safety boots. Tuesday Evening Sessions: 18:30 - 21:00

Chichester College runs a City & Guilds course, which can contain a restoration module, alternatively, a fulltime restoration and conservation of antique furniture course is available at West Dean College.

Entry Requirements?

No previous experience required.

What will I study?

Students will carry out simple repairs to both the structure and surface finish of a small item of their own furniture. Please bring a small piece of furniture to be worked on, disposable latex gloves, old toothbrush, a selection of cheap artist’s paintbrushes, clean rags, paper towels, methylated & white spirit (other items TBC) Available in small quantities at cost price from tutor: Polishing materials, Consolidants, Adhesive, Stain, artists' quality watercolour paints, good quality artists' (sable) brushes.

Practical demonstration by the tutor One to one tuition within the group Individual/group discussion/evaluations of the practical work achieved
