Course Details

This is a broad ranging course in agriculture for people looking for a career in this vitally important industry. This course will give you a solid understanding of the agricultural industry and allow you to progress to study at universities such as Harper Adams and The Royal Agricultural college, Cirencester or go into work. The course provides outstanding knowledge and experiences of agricultural theories and practices, all taught on the college farm. Agricultural students are eligible for the college Learning Support Grant of £660 per year and the NFU educational trust fund which regularly sponsor students between £150 to £800 per year.

5 GCSEs including Maths and English at 4 or above (A-C)

What will I study?

The units on the qualification to be delivered this year will be, Principles of health and safety, Undertake and review work related experience in the land based industries, Land based industry machinery operations, Agricultural crop production, Plant and soil science, Undertake estate skills, Livestock husbandry, Business management in the Land-Based sector, Sheep production, and The principles of grassland management .

How will I be taught?

Most of the course will be delivered in the teaching rooms and farm facilities. There will be several assessments based on your developing knowledge, including an online Health and Safety test and assessments of your practical skills

How will I be assessed?

Both theory and practical assessments will be used to assess this qualification.
