Course Details

Access to HE Diplomas are intensive 1-year courses designed to get you into higher education. This course will seek to develop you as an independent, confident individual and will look to give you skills that cover all of academic university life. This course can lead to a wide range of HND or degree courses such as animal management, conservation, welfare or animal behaviour.

Entry Requirements

All learners must be 19+ on the 1st September and must have a GCSE grade C (grade 4 or above) in maths, English language and science. You must also pass an interview to be offered a place.

Career options

Successful completion of this course will allow you to enter most institutes of higher education, including HNC, HND & degree pathways. The courses are focused to help progression on your chosen career path.

What you need to know

What will I study?

You will study a variety of modules covering areas such as science, conservation, behaviour and nutrition. An independent academic study module will allow you to choose and carry out a study based on the area of your choice. You will also work in the animal centre and learn about the day-to-day care of a wide variety of species. Note: This course cannot be combined with A-levels.

How will I be taught?

You will be taught in both classroom sessions and through practical work in the animal centre and around the estate. You will also study and undertake practical activities on our working farm and at our equine yard.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed with a mixture of exams, workbooks, presentations and essays.
