Course Details

This course is aimed at dedicated learners who want to move into the creative industries or further training within the beauty industry, and are looking for practical training and a nationally-recognised qualification. You will gain advanced technical, management knowledge and skills relating to the hairdressing, beauty and make-up related industries. You will also undertake aspects such as health and fitness as well as small business enterprise. This course will give you the skills to work at management level within the industry or give you the skills to start your own business. This course will offer two routes. One being beauty therapy lead and the other one being hair, beauty, and media and theatrical make-up. The beauty route will provide you with the knowledge, practical experience and confidence to pursue a career in a range of disciplines, and will provide you with training in Aromatherapy, sports massage and Indian head massage. Year 1 comprises the HNC (Level 4 Higher National Certificate) qualification. Students can then progress on to the second year HND (Level 5 Higher National Diploma) to fully complete the qualification.

Entry Requirements

GCSE Mathematics and English Language are preferred at grade C. Prior Level 3 qualifications are required in either production arts or make up for entry onto the Hair & Make-up route and level 3 qualifications are required in beauty therapy for the beauty therapy route.

Career options

The Higher National Diploma in Hair, Beauty and Make up will allow learners to progress on to industry related employment or qualifications, as well as higher level apprenticeships.
