Course Details

Giving you the chance to learn with celebrity hairdresser Lee Stafford, this course offers you many training and industry advantages as you explore the Lee Stafford techniques and recipes along with our outstanding teaching team. Hairdressing is a creative, demanding and disciplined career that will provide you with a rewarding career and exciting opportunities. You will follow a study programme consisting of English, Maths, Work Experience, Enrichment activities and your hairdressing qualification. In this 1st year you will study: • Principles of practice of hairdressing • Shampoo, condition and treat the hair and scalp • Style, set and finish hair • Cut hair using basic techniques • Plait and twist hair If you are accepted onto the 2nd year you will master colouring amongst other skills • Principles of practice of hairdressing • Colour and lighten hair • Styling and finishing services • Perm and neutralise hair You will work in our Lee Stafford Education Salon on our huge external base of clients, providing you with realistic opportunities to practice the skills you will learn along the way.

Entry Requirements

Maths or English GCSE grade C/4 or above, GCSE grade D/3 or above in science, PE or a creative subject such as textiles or art & one other GCSE grade D/3 or above in any other subject. A work experience placement in a salon for a minimum of 1/2 a day a week.

Career options

This qualification will allow you to progress into employment or onto a Level 2 Technical diploma such as City & Guilds Level 2 Technical certificate for Hair Colouring services. After the above you may progress onto Level 3 Advanced Technical Diploma.

How will I be taught?

This fast moving, imaginative and fun course will help you learn how to master top styling, cutting and colouring techniques, in our fully equipped Lee Stafford Education salon. This is done through a range of demonstrations, theory sessions, workshops with Lee Stafford himself.

How will I be assessed?

Practical skills will be assessed through a synoptic practical exam. Theory knowledge will be assessed through a written exam.
