Course Details

This VTCT Entry 3 Award in Hair and Beauty skills is designed to enable you to perform basic hair and beauty skills on yourself. Skills such as caring for your own personal hygiene, appearance, hair and skin need to perfected as they are considered essential self-care skills, which will enable you to promote yourself within the hair & beauty industry. As part of the course you will participate in work experience over a 2 week period on the College Oasis hair and beauty salon reception and dispensary.

Entry Requirements

No formal qualifications are required but an initial assessment of English and Math's will be required so that you are placed on the correct functional skills or GCSE's which are a compulsory part of the course (not compulsory for age 19+ students).

Career options

This qualification along with English and Maths GCSE's will prepare you to Progress onto further related industrial qualifications.

What will I study?

A range of Hair and Beauty techniques. This is a vocational related qualification and includes all the required elements to develop skills and techniques to help develop personal appearence, communication skills, numeracy and literacy skills as well as an introduction to hair and beauty skills. All of these skills will be needed to complete the mandatory unit in 'Create your own hair and beauty image'.

How will I be taught?

Lessons will be delivered in both theory and practical settings and will cover both theory and practical aspects of the subjects. Most of the learning process will be student centred and will require 100% attendance to all lessons (including English and Maths), commitment, dedication and the ability to behave in a professional manor to enable progression is essential.

How will I be assessed?

This course is assessed through written work, observation of your practical application & mock assessments for English and Maths
