What will I study?

This is a very creative and art-based course and learners are constantly researching themes, concepts, techniques, influences and historical eras, producing creative pieces of work to reflect their interpretation. In the first year, students will cover the following units: Working in the film, TV & theatre industry Create historical hair & makeup looks Media makeup creative hair design Fashion & photographic makeup The creation & presentation of a look book & industry portfolio Apply body art Camouflage makeup Specialist bridal hair & makeup Media makeup blogging In the second year, students will cover the following: Cutting & styling techniques for performers Avant-garde hair & make-up Creative make-up design for productions and industry demands Apply prosthetic pieces and bald caps Special effects make-up Create, dress and fit facial postiche Body art for competition

How will I be taught?

Lessons will be delivered in both theory and practical settings and will cover both theory and practical aspects of the subject. Most of the learning process will be student centered and will require 100% attendance to lessons, commitment, dedication and the ability to conduct independent research. Home study time (in addition to attending college) is also an essential part of your ability to complete the course; you will be required to set aside at least 2 days outside of your college timetabl

How will I be assessed?

Learners will be formatively assessed continuously and feedback will regularly be provided to guide students' progress. To gain this qualification, students must successfully achieve one externally set and externally moderated synoptic assignment plus one externally set, externally marked exam, sat under examination conditions.
