Beauty is ideal for hardworking and creative people. Some of the skills you will need include patience, excellent communication, teamwork and attention to detail. An interest in fashion and Beauty is essential. The Apprenticeship is designed to provide you with the knowledge and practical experience required.

Entry Requirements

Employed in a Beauty salon (minimum of 33 hours per week, including one day a week at college), Basic English and Maths skills at level 4 GCSE and be prepared to purchase a full kit and uniform. Applicants must also successfully complete an initial assessment and interview.

What you need to know

What will I study?

The Beauty Apprentices will train as salon junior and as part of the salon team. On completion of the Apprenticeship, the Beauty Professional Apprentice will be able to Manicure ,Pedicure, Massage, and Make-up. Beauty Therapists will be able to work with all client types demonstrating professionalism ,values, behaviors communication skills and safe working practices associated with the role and to able to work with out supervision to a high level of precision ,with exceptional client care skills. They will be be able to undertake the full range of duties appropriate to the job, confidently and competently.

How will I be taught?

The course is delivered in the College and Workplace and comprises: Level 2 Beauty , Functional Skills Math Level 1- (exempt if Grade A-C in Math GCSE) and Functional Skills English Level 1-(exempt if Grade A-C in English Language GCSE).

How will I be assessed?

Continual development of the skills ,knowledge and behaviors are required to meet the Standard and the City and Guilds qualification. A range of on going observations and knowledge tests will be undertaken. Competence is assessed by end point assessment and a range of practical assessments, supplemented by oral questioning assessments. Functional Skills Math's and English are assessed through on-line tests
