What you need to know

What will I study?

The course aims to teach the fundamentals of accounting. It is based on understanding the double entry system and learning how to prepare financial reports for sole-traders and limited companies. You will also look at the concepts guiding the preparation of these reports. In your second year, you will go on to look at the financial reports in greater detail as well as looking at what happens within an industrial setting, looking at how managers interpret financial statements to make costing and pricing decisions.

How will I be taught?

A Level Accounting uses a system of Flipped Learning where you will learn some basic facts before the lesson and then your teacher will develop this knowledge through individual and group activities. A Level Accounting uses a lot of filmed content to help reinforce concepts during your independent learning.

How will I be assessed?

This is a 2 year linear A Level where you are examined on the whole syllabus at the end of Year 2. All year 1 students will progress through a Year 1 Gateway, which may include external exams, that will allow you to progress to Year 2.
