This course offers you the opportunity to gain the skills demanded by employers, while achieving a nationally recognised qualification that could ultimately lead to the full AAT Accounting Qualification and AAT full membership. The programme provides the opportunity to study book-keeping, accounting skills and payrol both manually and computerised. Students will produce accounting and payroll information manually and using computerised accounts software. For all students studying an AAT course, they will need to register as a student member of AAT. This is a membership fee paid directly to AAT, and is currently, based on 2017/18 fees, £82 a year, with a one-off joining fee of £43. There is also the requirement to purchase course books for this course, of which there are 8, costing between £100 and £110 in total.
On completion of the qualification, you can expect to be eligible for jobs in the following areas: book-keeping, purchase and sales ledger clerk, cashier, data entry. Alternatively, you can progress on to the AAT Advanced Level 3 Diploma in Accountancy as an apprentice.
