Course Details

We are delighted to offer the Profession/Tax Accountant Apprenticeship which is designed as an entry level role into the Accountancy and/or Tax Sectors. The Apprenticeship is a 20 month course, running over 5 terms, where we work closely with employers, including planned reviews to help support the individual to achieve success in their apprenticeship. Apprentices will be supported by the AAT course leader, subject specialist lecturers, assigned assessors and a student tutor throughout their apprenticeship.

Entry Requirements

Individual employers set the selection criteria, but this is likely to include 5GCSEs at grade 4 / C or above, incl maths & English. Other relevant level 3 qualifications & experience, may be accepted. Applicants without English/maths GCSE must achieve this before taking their end point assessment.

What you need to know

What will I study?

The timetable is planned to ensure that the on-programme assessment of knowledge, skills and behaviour outcomes is covered over a 20 month period, enroute to the final synoptic end point assessment. Topics covered will be Financial statements of Limited companies; Management accounting; Budgeting Management accounting; Decision and Control Accounting systems and controls Personal Tax and Business Tax. You will also be required to compile a work based portfolio of evidence to support your learning.

How will I be taught?

Classroom based tuition. Additional resources on VLE and exam practice via AAT website.

How will I be assessed?

For your AAT qualification, you will study 6 units in total. Of these, 5 will be assessed via computer based tests, and the remaining unit will be an end of year synoptic test. Results for these will be available within 5 - 6 weeks of your exam date. For your apprenticeship to be successfully completed, there will also be an end point assessment, which will be an additional external assessment.
