Course Details

This course offers you the opportunity to gain the skills demanded by employers, while achieving a nationally recognised qualification that could ultimately lead to the full AAT Accounting Qualification and AAT full membership. The full AAT programme through to level 4 provides the opportunity to study book-keeping, accounting skills and both manually and computerised. For all students studying an AAT course, they will need to register as a student member of AAT. This is a membership fee paid directly to AAT, and is currently, based on 2017/18 fees, £82 a year, with a one-off joining fee of £43. There is also the requirement to purchase a course books for this course, of which there is currently 1, costing around £20.

Entry Requirements

With this qualification there’s no need for any prior accounting knowledge. This qualification will give you a solid background in single entry bookkeeping. This is a basic entry-level qualification (most students will start at Foundation level).

What will I study?

The AAT level 1 Award in Bookkeeping introduces the role of a bookkeeper and simple bookkeeping techniques. You will study the following areas: Understand the role of the bookkeeper Understand financial transactions Process customer and supplier transactions Process receipts and payments

How will I be taught?

Classroom based tuition, on one afternoon or morning a week. Additional resources on VLE and exam practice via AAT website

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed by Computer Based Tests (CBTs) where the results are normally available within 2 hours of you sitting your exam.
