This course is suitable for apprentices working in the IT and Computing industry and consists of formal work based assessments that will be carried out in your normal place of work and a technical qualification that is delivered at Chichester College

Entry Requirements

BTEC National Diploma / QCF Extended Diploma: 18 units. Acceptable subjects include IT, engineering, software development, IT practitioners, computing, and science. Candidates are interviewed before an offer is made. Applicants must have GCSE (or equivalent) Mathematics and English at grade C

Career options

Possible full time employment in the Computing Industry at the end of apprenticeship. Possible progression onwards to other degree based apprenticeships or full time degree courses.

What will I study?

The Higher IT and Web Design Professional Apprenticeship includes a Technical Certificate taken during college day-release which is one day per week during term time and runs over 2 years year. It also includes a Diploma which is a work-based qualification. The Diploma is focused on the skills learned in the work place. The content of the qualification is selected by the employer so that it is relevant to the skills used in the company. This runs over a two year period. The Higher IT and Web Design Professional Apprenticeship covers the following areas in computing: IT Support Computer Hardware - Website Development Programming Software Development¿ IT Project Management - eCommerce

How will I be taught?

You will be taught in college, covering a HNC in Computing and Systems Development. The Knowledge element of the qualification will be assessed in the workplace

How will I be assessed?

Assessment Methods used are: Technical Certificate - formal assignments with a pass/fail grading. Diploma - examples of work based activities - observations of practice in the workplace.
