Course Details

The is a one year course with the opportunity to continue into a second year for an Extended Diploma. The course is delivered at the Brinsbury Campus and the areas of study will include advanced forestry and arboriculture techniques, woodland management, use of land based machinery, industry and employment legislation and business management.

Entry Requirements

Completion of Level 2 Forestry and Arboriculture at 'merit' grade or above on all written assignments, 5 GCSEs at C grade or above, including English and Maths, together with relevant industry experience. Relevant National Proficiency Test Council certificates (NPTC).

Career options

Level 3 Extended Diploma in Forestry and Arboriculture or entry into employment.

What you need to know

What will I study?

Advanced practical forestry and arboriculture techniques, tree surveying, woodland management, tree identification and woodland science. If you are aged 16-18 you will follow a study programme consisting of your main qualification, english and maths, enterprise and enrichment.

How will I be taught?

A mixture of theory and practical tasks including projects; research assignments and practical assessments challenging your skills and knowledge with machinery and aerial tree work.

How will I be assessed?

By a range of assessment techniques including practical assessment, written work and projects.
