Students will learn a range of skills and manufacturing techniques employed in the furniture industry, specifically related to the use of wood preparation machinery.
No previous qualifications are necessary however it is recommended that students will have a basic understanding of furniture construction. This is normally achieved by completing the sister course Level 2 Award in Furniture.
This course can lead to enrolment on to the Level 3 Award in Furniture.
You will learn how to set-up and operate woodworking machinery such as saws, planers, profiling, jointing, sanding, CNC machinery as well as how to use portable powered hand tools.
How will I be taught?
Learners will be guided through each session by our experienced tutors, teaching you to develop your confidence using a range of skills necessary in the furniture industry.
How will I be assessed?
You will be formally assessed through the successful completion of a Centre Devised Assignment. During this assessment you will be graded on all aspects of manufacture, from planning and preparing the job through to the setting up and operating of a range of woodworking machines.
