How will I be taught?

You will first be given an initial induction in the set up and use of machinery, this is in 2 parts – classroom theory and workshop practical. You will then have the opportunity of applying this learning in the production of 2 design and make pieces. Here you have to sketch and develop ideas, produce working drawings and cutting lists then purchase wood from which you will convert into components using machinery. After which these will be assembled together to make your item of furniture.

How will I be assessed?

To pass the course you will have to complete a centre devised assignment incorporating the use of all the machinery covered throughout the course in the production of a set piece of furniture.
