Course Details

An inclusive course designed for all skill levels, we will teach you how to make a table accurately within a week! You will be instructed in the construction of traditional joints including mortice and tenons, lap and through dovetails and housings to name a few. We will also look at veneering methods and learning how to lay with book-matching, and if you are up for the challenge we will even make a drawer to fit.

Entry Requirements

No previous experience is necessary, but if you have some, we will put an individual learning plan together. You will receive a certificate of attendance from the College.

What you need to know

What will I study?

Traditional jointing techniques, accurate marking, sawing, planing, scraping, sanding and finishing.

How will I be taught?

We teach in small groups to maximise your potential, typically between 4 and 6 learners per session. This will allow us to give you proper one to one tuition and make the learning meaningful.

How will I be assessed?

Formative (progression checking) assessment and advice all the way through the course. A summative assessment by peers and lecturer at the end.
