Course Details

The Level 4 BTEC Higher National Certificate in Construction and the Built Environment offers you a broad introduction to the subject area. You will gain a solid grounding of sector knowledge, while allowing for the acquisition of skills and experience across a variety of disciplines. This effectively builds core skills with general specialism. At Level 4 you will develop a broad knowledge and awareness of key concepts of the construction and built environment sector. Focusing on 4 core units of Construction Practise and Management, Science and Materials, Construction Technology and an individual project, students should expect a variety of assessments to include exams, presentations, practical work and written assessments.

Entry Requirements

You will normally need to have a combination of GCE A levels, or Level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma or equivalent qualifications. GCSE Mathematics and English Language are preferred at grade C/4. Relevant professional experience is also considered.

Career options

You may choose to continue your studies using this qualification to access other advanced construction industry programmes at colleges and universities across the UK or use the qualification to progress in your career, for example as a Technician or Junior Manager in the built environment sector.
