Course Details

The course is very much based on a practical experience, however an element of theoretical classroom work is required. Practical element include: Health & Safety, brickwork, blockwork, carpentry & joinery, painting & Decorating, plumbing and electrical.

Entry Requirements

GCSE C in English and Maths are always preferred but not necessary. No formal qualifications required. You will be invited to interview where you will be informed about the course and given an opportunity to discuss your aspirations.

Career options

This qualification can lead to employment in the maintenance sector and with employment in this sector Apprenticeships. A specific trade area such as brickwork, carpentry & joinery, painting & decorating, electrical and plumbing

What will I study?

Practical element include: Health & Safety, brickwork, blockwork, carpentry & joinery, painting & Decorating, plumbing and electrical, all these units will be backed up with theoretical knowledge. All our learners are expected to improve their current levels of English and Maths this may be either Functional skills or GCSE pending on your current level, these skills are to a successful career in the construction industry

How will I be taught?

Practical training is delivered by demonstration, drawings or sometimes written instructions. Theory is mainly delivered in a classroom environment but is also explored within the practical workshops. All learners preferred learning styles will be catered for.

How will I be assessed?

Ongoing practical assessments and multiple choice question papers.
