This is an exciting new course that has a mixture of technical knowledge and skills, work readiness skills and work placements to give you the knowledge and skills required to be a professional in the construction industry. This also give you the opportunity to meet and impress employers, open doors for future career plans.

Entry Requirements

Entry requirements are 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 (or A*-C) including English Language, Mathematics and Science. Previous work experience in the industry will support your application.

Career options

This course will give the equivalent UCAS points to 3 A levels. You will have the opportunity to progress straight into employment, join a management traineeship, full time university study, Employment as a Higher Apprentice. Students from this course would be expected to progress via further study or directly into employment in roles such as: leadership, architecture, design, site or contract management, planning or project management roles.

What you need to know

What will I study?

You will gain and apply skills and knowledge needed to succeed in a career as a construction professional. This will include use of industry technology, legislation, project planning and management, sustainability, design, relationship management, sector and business structures, law.

How will I be taught?

Teaching and learning methods include practical classes, group and individual work, lectures, self-study, study trips. In addition to this you will have significant work placement, which is a great opportunity for hands-on learning, where you actually get to experience the role of a construction professional.

How will I be assessed?

There are various assessment points with a final 20 hour project consisting of independent research and work on an employer / awarding body set project.
