Course Details

This programme is ideal if English is not your first language, you are living in the UK and want to improve your English to continue your studies and/or improve your future opportunities in this country. The course concentrates on developing the three main skills in English (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening), the knowledge of Grammar and Vocabulary, and Life in the UK. For people aged between 16-18, Maths is also an obligatory element of the course. However, this is optional for adults and subject to their level of English and existing qualifications. Apart from all of the above, we will also help you with your independent study, employability and communication skills, and future career opportunities. We offer two opportunities to join the course: September and January.

Entry Requirements

To join ESOL Entry 3, you need to have: an ESOL Entry 2 certificate (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening) or E3 level result in the initial assessments completed during your initial meeting. If you are at a lower level than the course you have applied for, we might be able to offer a level below.

Career options

Once you achieve the 3 elements of the course (Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening) at ESOL Entry 3, you will be able to progress onto Level 1 ESOL Study Programme. Usually, it takes people around one academic year to complete the three elements of the course. If you study Maths, you will move to the next level.

What will I study?

How will I be taught?

All our lessons include a variety of resources and are planned with each learner's abilities in mind. This makes the learning fun, exciting and interesting. Your lessons consist of: 1.5 hours a week of: Speaking and Listening, Reading, Writing, Life in the UK. 3 hours a week of: Grammar and Vocabulary, and Maths. 1 or 2 days a week of Vocational Course Experience (16-18 year olds only). How will I be assessed?

For English, you will have tests and coursework that will help us see your progress. Also, our students complete official exams. They have three opportunities to do this throughout the year. For the Certificate in ESOL Entry 3 you need to pass three exams: Reading Writing Speaking and Listening For Maths: Functional Skills: one exam and several opportunities throughout the year. GCSE Maths: three exams at the end of the year (May-June).
