Course Details

The Award level is designed to develop the knowledge of learners who would like to work in a school or college environment. The Certificate or Diploma is suitable for those working or volunteering in a supporting role in an educational environment. Taught subjects include: • Communication and relationships • Supporting & Assessing Learning, • Literacy and Numeracy • Inclusion & Behaviour • Safeguarding • Professional Practice. You will be assessed by a College Assessor, who mentors and guides you, providing meaningful feedback on your practice enabling you to develop within your role.

Entry Requirements

A recommended 6 months practice in the workplace is required, to ensure the level of competence can be evidenced in the portfolio.

Career options

Candidates can progress to supervisory roles, such as Team Leader, Higher Level Teaching Assistant roles, through completion of the HLTA programme.

What will I study?

The course is delivered using a blended approach, combining taught sessions and assessment in the workplace, and comprises: • Level 3 Diploma in Specialist Support for Teaching and Learning in Schools

You will attend 9 monthly twilight workshops which will be theme based sessions to develop knowledge and skills within the school/college environment.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will take place in the workplace, with a dedicated Assessor, a portfolio of evidence will be collated over the period of learning.
