Legislation places an obligation on food business proprietors to ensure that food production is carried out in a hygienic way and to identify and control critical food safety hazards. All food handlers must be supervised and instructed and/or trained in food hygiene matters to a level appropriate to their job. The course is directed at those working in kitchens or involved in the processing, preparation or retailing of food. Successful candidates will gain an accredited qualification form RSPH.

Entry Requirements?

No previous qualifications or experience is necessary but a good standard of English, reading, written, and listening is required.

How will I study?

How will I be taught?

This course covers the theory of food hygiene and is taught in a classroom environment using an interactive Power Point.

How will I be assessed?

An externally set, 30 question, 40 minute exam taken on the day. Candidates requiring exam support e.g. a reader, large print or a foreign language paper, should contact the college at least 3 weeks in advance.
