Course Details

This is an excellent opportunity to both study and develop your employability skills for your chosen career. Edexcel BTEC Level 5 HNDs provide nationally recognised qualifications offering career progression and opportunities to progress into higher education. This course is designed for those wishing to prepare for a career at professional / management level in hospitality management. Enjoy varied learning through lectures, guest speakers, seminars, individual and group work, role play and experiential learning. The course comprises eight core and eight optional units. Students may be able to select their optional units and so design a study pathway towards their particular career interests. This course provides students with the skills and expertise sought after by industry professionals. At the end of the course students have the opportunity to celebrate their achievement with a full graduation ceremony at Chichester Cathedral. Year 1 comprises the HNC (Level 4 Higher National Certificate) qualification. Students can then progress on to the second year HND (Level 5 Higher National Diploma) to fully complete the qualification.

Entry Requirements

A typical offer of either a combination of GCE A levels/Level 3 Diploma or an Extended Diploma at overall Merit. Relevant industry experience will be considered. GCSE Mathematics and English Language are preferred at grade C or above, English as a second language at IELTS 6.0 or equivalent.

Career options

Students can progress straight into employment within the hospitality industry or complete a ‘top up’ year at university.

How will I be taught?

Courses are taught with a combination of lectures, seminars and practical workshops, with the added expectation of self-directed study. Students will be expected to work as part of a team and independently in order to complete scheduled work.

How will I be assessed?

Assessments will be scheduled and published at the beginning of each unit and will comprise a mixture of presentations, group work, work-based learning, practical assessment, examinations, and written assignments.
