Course Details

This course is designed for practicing & aspiring strategic / senior managers. The course aims, with a practical work-based emphasis, to provide candidates with formal Leadership & Management development. The program provides the highest available professional & vocational qualification in Management & Leadership. The course comprises three modules: Developing Leadership & Management capability through enquiry; Developing a high level business case; Developing & maintaining a high performance culture & optimising resources. Students who already hold the ILM Level 7 Certificate in Leadership and Management can join this diploma course from Module 2 onwards (MGT259CE1T) in April 2020. Students attending this course will normally have some recent experience of undertaking a course of study.

Entry Requirements

Level 5 Management or Business qualification or equivalent, and current relevant management experience.Candidates will normally be practising Middle or Senior operational / strategic managers. Course membership / acceptance is by interview with the course leader.

Career options

Completion will lead to the level 7 Diploma Leadership and Management equivalent to a post graduate level qualification. The next step that could be taken is to progress to a Masters level qualification.

What will I study?

This course, designed for practicing and aspiring strategic / senior managers, has a blended learning approach consisting of demanding all-day sessions each month combined with interactive weekly video/tele-conferences as well as collaborative group and personal study. It comprises three modules which are: Developing Leadership and Management capability through enquiry; Developing a high level business case; Developing and maintaining a high performance culture and optimising resources. Students will also have the opportunity to attend an intensive residential session, designed to provide a practical environment to improve their group, team working and leadership skills. These units cover topics such as: Leadership and Management theory, Conflict resolution and motivation, Strategy Development, Operations, Decision Making, Finance and Marketing strategy and other related & current leadership topics. Time is also set aside to allow for the discussion of, and research into, current leadership topics which are of interest to the students in their work environment.

How will I be taught?

Active lessons and collaborative working are the cornerstones of the teaching style at Chichester College. Peer to Peer and distance tutorial support form part of the delivery method You will be encouraged to maximise self-study opportunities using the library and digital resources.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is carried out by completion of a four work related research assignments combined with a group research project which is assessed via a group presentation and handout.
