This course is for people of all ages and stages of their career. Ideal for managers in non-marketing functions, entrepreneurs, apprentices and those starting out in a marketing career. It gives a good grounding in the basics of marketing.

You do not need any previous experience or qualifications in marketing - just a curiosity about the subject and a desire to learn and to progress in a career in marketing.

Career options

On completion of the second module, this course can lead to the CIM Level 3 Foundation Certificate in Marketing then progression to the CIM Level 4 Certificate in Professional Marketing.

What you need to know

What will I study?

This module provides an understanding of the key concepts and terminology used in marketing. It provides the knowledge and understanding of the role and function of marketing within organisations, and explores the factors that influence consumer behaviour. It identifies key components of the marketing environment and enables an appreciation of how to collect and utilise relevant information about the marketing environment. It outlines the concepts and elements which make up the marketing mix.

How will I be taught?

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is by a 1.5 hour online exam.
