Course Details

For individuals leading teams with some management responsibility, such as supporting, managing and developing team members, to leading projects or planning and monitoring workloads and resources. Also responsible for delivering operational plans, resolving problems, or building work relationships with colleagues at the same level of above. Relevant job titles are: Team Leader, Supervisor, Project Officer, Shift Supervisor, Foreperson or Shift Manager. College attendance is 60 days over six terms including workshops for portfolio building. The course fee includes ILM registration and certification fees and a one-day Problem Solving and Leading People Event.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs, at Grade C or above. to include English and maths. Acceptance onto this course is via an interview with the ILM Course Leader. You will be invited to bring your CV and a 500 word personal statement of why you wish to study for a management qualification at this time.

What you need to know

What will I study?

Seventeen mandatory units including Knowledge units (theory) and Skills units (application) for the following topics: Leading People, Managing People, Building Relationships, Communication, Operational Management, Project Management Finance. Plus Combined units (personal effectiveness) for: Self-awareness, Management of Self, Problem Solving and Decision Making.

How will I be taught?

A Lecturer with subject specialist experience will be teaching each unit via face-to-face classroom delivery with active learning group work throughout the course. Support will be given by 1-2-1 tutorials. The course includes a Leadership and Problem Solving Event to apply theory in a practical environment.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment will by two onscreen multiple choice tests for four Knowledge units, plus a portfolio of evidence for thirteen other Knowledge and Skills units. A variety of assessment methods will be used.
