Course Details

Ideal for individuals who manage teams or projects or are responsible for achieving operational or departmental goals and strategic objectives.For managers responsible for everything from creating and delivering operational plans, managing projects, and leading and managing teams, to managing change, financial and resource management. Responsibilities also include talent management, coaching and mentoring. Roles may include those of Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Departmental Manager as well as other specialist managers. College attendance is eighty days over eight terms over a 30-month period plus tutorials and assessment by appointment. Course fees include ILM registration and certification fees and a three-day Leadership and Problem Solving event.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs,at C or above, including English and maths. Acceptance onto this course is via an interview with the ILM Course Leader. You will be invited to bring your CV and a 500 word personal statement of why you wish to study management at this time.

Career options

This course is ideal for those progressing from the ILM Level 3 Certificate or Diploma in Leadership and Management, who now have increased managerial responsibility. Progression can be onto an ILM Level 7 Diploma in Leadership and Management.

What you need to know

What will I study?

Seventeen mandatory units including Knowledge units (theory) and Skills units (application) for the following topics: Leading People, Managing People, Building Relationships, Communication, Operational Management, Project Management Finance. Plus Combined units (personal effectiveness) for: Self-awareness, Management of Self, Problem Solving and Decision Making.

How will I be taught?

A Lecturer with subject specialist experience will be teaching each unit via face-to-face classroom delivery with active learning group work throughout the course. Support will be given by 1-2-1 tutorials. The course includes a Leadership and Problem Solving Event to apply theory in a practical environment.

How will I be assessed?

Scenario based assignments for four units, plus a portfolio of evidence for thirteen other Knowledge and Skills units. A variety of assessment methods will be used.
