Course Details

A 33-month higher apprenticeship including the ILM Level 5 Diploma for Leaders and Managers. Ideal for individuals who manage teams or projects or are responsible for achieving operational or departmental goals and strategic objectives. Responsibilities also include talent management, coaching and mentoring. Roles may include those of Operations Manager, Regional Manager, Divisional Manager, Department Manager as well as other specialist managers. College attendance is 80 days over 8 terms including tutorials and assessment, by appointment. Includes ILM registration and certification and a three-day Leadership and Problem Solving event.

Entry Requirements

A minimum of five GCSEs,at C grade or above,including English and maths. Acceptance onto this course is via an interview with the ILM Course Leader. You will be invited to bring your CV and a 500 word personal statement of why you wish to study management at this time.

What will I study?

The ILM Level 5 Diploma for Leaders and Managers, designed to meet the assessment criteria for this apprenticeship standard, Comprising of seventeen mandatory units including Knowledge units (theory) and Skills units (application) for: Leading People Managing People Building Relationships Communication Operational Management Project Management Finance. Plus three Combined units (personal effectiveness): Self-awareness Management of Self Problem Solving and Decision Making. The above have been designed by the ILM to meet the criteria set out in the new apprenticeship standard.

How will I be taught?

A team of Lecturers will be teaching their subject specialism unit via face-to-face classroom delivery, with active learning group work throughout the course. Support will be given by 1-2-1 tutorials with the Course Leader and designated Assessor and Student Tutor. The course includes a Leadership and Problem Solving Event to apply theory in a practical environment.

How will I be assessed?

The criteria for completing the ILM Level 5 Diploma for Leaders and Managers is scenario based assignments for four units and a portfolio of evidence for the remaining thirteen units. A variety of assessment methods will be used. The apprentice will be prepared for the End Point Assessment in conjunction with their employer.
