Course Details

Access to HE Diplomas are intensive 1-year courses designed to give you the knowledge and skills to move into Higher Education. The Engineering qualification has been designed in order to let you pursue your goals at HE level. This course will seek to develop you as an independent, confident individual and will look to give you skills that cover all of academic university life, as well as determining where you can go, supporting your progression to HE.

Entry Requirements

You must be over 19 on the 1st September and must have a minimum GCSE grade C (Grade 4 or above) in Maths, English Language and Science. You must also pass an interview to be offered a place. It would be advantageous to your application if you have work experience within the Engineering Industry.

Career options

Successful completion of this course will allow you to enter most institutes of Higher Education, including HNC, HND & Degree pathways. The courses are focussed to help progression on your chosen career path.

What will I study?

Access to Higher Education is aimed at people returning to education that want to progress and don't have the entry criteria from their previous studies. Engineering is a fast paced and dynamic profession and you will study a range of units designed to prepare you for your future progression. These will not only be technically based units, but they will also include units designed to improve your study skills and reflective practice.

How will I be taught?

During your time at Chichester you will be taught using a range of practical, theoretical and independent learning based on your own research as well as the learning in class.

How will I be assessed?

Your course will be assessed through a combination of exams, practicals, workbooks, presentations and assignments, giving you an opportunity to develop in a range of assessment skills that are commonly found in HE.
