Course Details

Our HNC course is a strong foundation year in developing performance techniques, independent discipline and professional practices for entry into further full-time study in accredited drama schools or work in the profession. Emphasis will be given in the first term to preparation for auditions at drama schools, ensemble performance and personal development. Performance projects are the underlying foundation of the course. What you need to know

What will I study?

During this program the students will further develop their basic acting skills, which will be delivered by modules covering acting practice (acting techniques, audition skills), rehearsal and performance skills, technical skills (voice, singing and movement) and contextual studies (script analysis and research skills). All of the rigorous practical research, modules and projects and academic exploration, will produce work within the scholarly conventions appropriate to an undergraduate level of study.

How will I be taught?

As members of our ‘IntAct’ Theatre Company, you will work within a schedule that emulates that of a professional company, taking daily technique classes and rehearsals. An independent approach to study and the generation of performing arts evidence is emphasised through all units.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed on your ability to respond to stimuli in the rehearsal room and on the simulation of skills in performances. You will also create appropriate research to supplement any practical assignment; this will be through logbooks or research papers.
