Course Details

The first run on the ladder to becoming a world class football coach. The first year will give students the foundations to progress as a coach, helping to understand the coaching coaching process and improve confidence in leading a session. Students will have the chance to gain real life experience, working in local schools. A one year course will lead to 4 qualifications: FA L1, Leadership Through Football L2, L1 Award in Principles of Coaching Football and the NCFE Certificate in Sport.

Entry Requirements

You will need to be at least 16 before 1st September on the year of entry A passion for football coaching and work with young people Each applicant will be asked to provide a reference letter from their previous school or club as to their suitability to start the course.

Career options

Further coaching qualifications, FA Level 2. A career in football coaching working for professional Coaching in the Community programmes or working abroad. A stepping stone to other vocational areas e.g. coaching, officiating, Teaching, Personal T

How will I be taught?

In a fun and enthusiastic way, with lots of questions and guided discovery in a safe and fully inclusive environment. All lessons are well planned with opportunities to stretch and challenge all learners. All lessons will be varied using different teaching styles. A mixture of practical and classroom based lessons. They way the lessons are taught are designed to show you the way you should carry out all your coaching sessions.

How will I be assessed?

The course is assessed through direct observations of practical assessments and a portfolio of theory based written work, with oral questions and reflective accounts.
