Course Details

This course will cover various aspects of the sport industry developing your confidence in sport subject knowledge, leadership, coaching ability and team work. You will be interested in a variety of practical and theoretical sessions. We give you the opportunity to learn new skills and put them into action. It is about learning in a fun and enjoyable environment, experiencing lessons not only in the classroom, but in the local surrounds and facilities.

Entry Requirements

Two GCSEs grades C/4 and above. English and/or Mathematics are desirable - especially if students wish to progress onto the Level 3 90 Credit Sport. or Active IQ Fitness courses.

Career options

Successful achievement can lead to progression onto the Level 3 90 Credit Diploma in Sport or Certificate in Football Studies or Active IQ Fitness Instructor Level 2. Career opportunities in Sport and Leisure - Trainee Instructor in Leisure Centre.

What will I study?

These 7 units are to be completed in order to achieve the full Diploma. You will have to lead coaching sessions, participate in fitness classes and look in detail at how the body systems work and much more: > Anatomy and Physiology >Healthy Exercise and Nutrition >Personal Training >Physical Fitness and Sports Injuries >Participating in Sport >Plan, lead and evaluate an activity >Developing sporting skills and tactical awareness

How will I be taught?

Both in the classroom and through practical sessions. The timetable revolves endeavoring to provide a practical session on each taught day. Two computer assignment support sessions a week and theory sessions delivered interactively.

How will I be assessed?

There will be a combination of practical and theory work which will be used as evidence to contribute to a portfolio. The portfolio of work produced will be graded at either Pass, Merit or Distinction.
