Following the conclusion of a Structure and Prospects Appraisal process at Worthing College and a decision reached by the College’s Corporation on Monday 16 July, Chichester College Group have been selected as the preferred merger partner for Worthing College.

Paul Riley, Principal of Worthing College, said: “there has been an extremely robust and methodical process deployed by a Steering Group for the process and the Corporation in coming to this decision, which I believe is in the very best interests of staff, students and the wider community we serve.”

A statutory consultation will now take place over the summer and the plan is to achieve merger before the end of March 2019.  The priority for Chichester College Group and Worthing College will be to minimise disruption to staff and students at Worthing and Chichester College Group to ensure a seamless transition period.

Shelagh Legrave, Chief Executive at the Chichester College Group said: “The merger offers a compelling opportunity to create a dynamic organisation to serve the education and training needs of West Sussex and the wider region.”
